Fire Safety Training

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, fires and explosions injure more than 5,000 workers every year. Don’t become a statistic! Training employees how to use fire extinguishers is an OSHA requirement for many organizations – and a common-sense way to mitigate risk. If a fire breaks out, employees who feel comfortable using a fire extinguisher are more likely to contain or extinguish the fire. Early-stage firefighting relies on quick thinking and immediate action to contain a fire and minimize damage and injury. Northwoods Fire Protection offers affordable, on-site certified fire safety training to make workplaces safer and compliant with NFPA10 (National Fire Protection Association) and OSHA requirements.

Fire Safety Training Key Components

Northwoods Fire Protection customizes its fire safety training courses to fit the audience, industry, facility, and inherent fire hazards. Overall, all fire safety training courses have several key components in common. In every session, certified, experienced fire safety trainers:

  • Teach workers about fire hazards in their work environment
  • Explain what to do in the event of a fire emergency
  • Describe the different types of firefighting chemicals and fire extinguishers
  • Recommend types of extinguishers to use, based on the material on fire
  • Demonstrate the proper use of the fire extinguishers that employees have access to
  • Supervise hands-on use of fire extinguishers in a live-fire simulation
  • Provide real-time feedback, answer questions, and address fears

We Come to You for Fire Safety Training

For your convenience, Northwoods Fire Protection’s certified, experienced trainers will go to your location to conduct fire safety training. (After-hours training is available upon request.) Training sessions begin with a general meeting inside or outside to review basic firefighting information. Next, trainers introduce the tools and techniques to combat fires that might occur in the work environment. Common combustibles in the workplace include wood, cloth, paper, flammable liquids, grease, oil, alcohol, electrical equipment, and combustible metals. Employees learn the steps to put out a fire or control the fire so they can safely evacuate the building.
