Annual Maintenance
Mandatory annual inspections require inspectors to verify the extinguisher is fully pressurized, free from damage, and weighed appropriately. Annual inspections also require a pull test on the pin and seal replacement—this must be verified with a dated inspection tag. If the extinguisher fails to meet these requirements, it must be replaced.
6 Year Maintenance
Extinguishers that store a pressurized agent must have its contents removed and refilled every 6 years. 6 year maintenance requires thorough inspection of the inside and outside and all parts within the extinguisher discharge head.
Hydrostatic Testing
Extinguishers that store specialized chemicals such as Halon or dry chemicals must undergo hydrostatic tests every 12 years.CO2 and stainless steel (water and Class K) units must be hydrostatically tested every 5 years.
Restaurant Fire Suppression Systems
The failure of a suppression system to operate properly will prove very costly. With today’s high-temperature appliances using oil and solid fuels, it’s essential that your fire suppression system stay in good operating condition. Our goal is to reduce your risk significantly through ongoing service that provides the best defense against kitchen fire loss.
Fire suppression inspections involve knowledge of several NFPA codes. Code 17 covers dry chemical fire extinguishing systems, and Code 17A covers wet chemical fire extinguishing systems. Dry chemical fire extinguishing systems for example are required to be on a six-month inspection schedule. Fire suppression systems have specific inspection requirements that must be adhered to. As an example, systems designed to automatically come on to extinguish a fire must be inspected every six months. Inspections and system servicing must be accomplished by trained technicians who understand the applicable NFPA and local codes.

Employee Fire Training
Prepare your staff with the skill and Hands-On fire extinguisher training they need to protect themselves and their workplace. Each participant will receive hands on training involving the different fire extinguishers available at their work facility and actually put out the fire on site.
Portable fire extinguisher training consists of reviewing with personnel the types of fire extinguishers located in the building, the type of fire each one can put out, and the proper use of the unit. There are several different types of fire extinguishers. They should also be trained on the actual use of the extinguisher, and should frequently review the types of extinguishers in their workplace and the materials they can extinguish. Fire extinguishers are required by law to have proper labeling that gives directions for their use and the employee should review those directions periodically. Finally, no employee should put themselves in danger in order to extinguish a fire. Even with proper training, not all fires can be put out with a fire extinguisher. If there is any question as to the safety of staying and trying to fight the fire, the employee should exit the building immediately and leave the fire fighting to the professionals.
